PRESIDENT'S  MESSAGE

Fall seems to have arrived in Central Florida.  It brings elections on every level from national offices to our executive board.  We have some nominations for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer but we are still accepting your nominations for these positions.

The season's lower humidity and cooler temperatures make it the perfect time to get out and take some photos.  Vallie and I went out last weekend to some of our local parks, took some photos to submit for the City Hall Gallery and had a great time.  Several members have already submitted photos for the galleries but we'd love to have yours as well.

One thing our members from more northern areas miss in Florida is the spectacular fall colors.  While our brightest colors may be on our hibiscus and other tropical blooms you can still find subtle fall color and fall themed subjects starting to pop up everywhere.   You can take some great fall shots at our volunteer events later this month and I guarantee you will have a great time.  The Haunted House, Rising, Carnival of Screams and Twilight Tour are filled with color, characters and many interesting subjects to photograph.  The St. Luke's concert will be filled with wonderful music and subjects as well.  I'd love for you to join me at one or more of these events.  I look forward to seeing you there.

CLUB MEETING - SATURDAY, NOV. 5
Club Meeting - Saturday Nov. 5,  6pm - 10pm.

Due to a conflict, we are unable to use our normal meeting space the first Monday in November.   In its place we have planned an evening at Scott and Kellie's home in Chuluota for Saturday, November 5th.  Since sunset will be around 6:35 we suggest arriving shortly after 6:00.

At the meeting we will have a very brief business meeting, take additional nominations for the Executive Board, and reveal the next photos to be hung in the City Hall and Annex galleries.

You know there will be fire and Scott and Kellie have already been busy assembling a bonfire which is currently eight feet tall and waiting to be lit.  If you'd like, please bring a savory or sweet snack to share, and we will provide chili, a hearty soup, soda and water.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Please email the club for the address, phone number and directions.

FIELD TRIP - SATURDAY, NOV. 19

WHERE:     OLD TOWN KISSIMMEE

WHEN:       SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19

TIME:         4pm - until

Vintage cars, 1979 and older, will start arriving at 1:00 pm and then will cruise the streets of Old Town starting at 8:30 pm.  We will take photos of the buildings, parked cars and the cruise as well as the rides in the amusement park.   We can decide on when and where to eat after we arrive.  Sunset will be around 5:30 so we will meet at 4:00 to take some golden hour shots, then take a break and find something to eat and then do night shots and the cruise.  The exact spot to meet will be in the next newsletter and on the website.

CASSELBERRY ART HOUSE EXHIBIT
Plans are underway for our exhibition at the Casselberry Art House in January 2017.   We will be required to drop off the art with an Art House Exhibition release form one day during the first week in January.  The exact day has not yet been determined. All photographs must be framed or gallery wrapped with wire on the back for hanging.

In order to give our members who wish to participate a chance to plan what they photos they wish to bring you must email the club by November 6th that you intend to participate.  If you have already told us you will be participating you do not need to email again.  If you're not sure if we have you on the list, it's better to be safe than sorry, so let us know.

Once the number of participants is determined, we will let them know the maximum number and size of the photographs they can show. Only current members who have renewed their membership for 2017 will be allowed to exhibit their work in this show.

No business cards or prices may be placed on the artwork however, you may include your watermark, title and/or signature on the print itself. If you wish to sell your artwork you must provide the title of the piece and the sale price to the club by the end of November for the price list.  If you do not wish to sell your work, we will still need the title of each of your prints to prepare the exhibit cards.  The price list will be made available to visitors to the gallery when they enter the exhibit.  Please note all sales are between the artist and purchaser but you must provide a copy of the receipt to the Art House and they will collect a 20% commission.  The Art House and the club will host an evening reception on the evening of Friday, January 13th. The reception will be open to the public and invitations will be sent by the Art House to their mailing lists.

F3C - FLORIDA CAMERA CLUB COUNCIL
The Oviedo Photo Club has joined the Florida camera club Council (FCCC or F3C).  F3C is made up of nearly 50 camera clubs from across Florida.  As a member of the Oviedo Photo Club you are eligible to join the F3C at no charge to you.  To join go to their website http://f3c.org and click on the red "Join Now!" button on the right side of the page and it will take you to their membership form.  Fill out the required fields, choose "Join as a member of an FCCC-affiliated camera club" then under Camera Club Affiliation choose Oviedo Photo Club.  The site won't let you choose a camera club on some mobile devices so please use your laptop or desktop.  Once you click the green "Sign Up" button at the bottom right of the form you will receive an email telling you they have received your application.  The club will receive an email to verify that you are a member of our club and once we do so you will receive an email telling you that your membership has been accepted.

We don't have competitions or critiques at our meetings so this is a way to have independent judges review and score your work.  There are three print and three digital competitions each year.  You may enter up to four images per competition and there are four categories.  There is a $10.00 entry fee per competition and if you choose to enter the print competition you will pay the postage to get them to the judges.  Please check out their website for additional information about the competitions.  Even if you do not choose to enter the competitions I encourage you go go to the site and check out the competition gallery to see what other photographers across the state are doing.  If your image scores in the top 25% you will receive a ribbon from the F3C and the top images are automatically entered into an end of the year competition as well.  The final digital competition begins November 1 and closes November 30, 2016.

F3C also provides educational opportunities through webinars and a yearly conference.  In 2017 it will be held from March 10 - 12th at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers with the theme "Photography: The Art and The Science".
